PeopleDr. Michael Walter and Walter Research Group
Dr. Michael Walter has a heart for outreach and spreading the excitement of molecular science far and wide. He works to find ways to correlate his outreach interests with his research group goals, hence, the birth of the Polymer Semiconductor Kit. WRG is involved in synthesis and development of new materials for solar energy conversion, including the synthesis of new porphyrin structures and photocatalytic materials for photovoltaic or solar fuel applications. Currently, they are working to enhance the light harvesting and energy (exciton) transfer mechanisms found in porphyrin thin films. Jessie Enlow, High School Chemistry Teacher Jessie Enlow is a high school chemistry teacher who wanted to find a way to bridge the gap between high school science, current scientific advancements, and real-world chemistry for the benefit of her students. She was supported by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation to develop a laboratory kit to do just that. During Summer 2015, Jessie worked in Dr. Walter's lab to develop three lab modules and curriculum related to polymer semiconductors and molecular electronics. |
